Prayer Request 4/24 - 4/30

Tuesday
The new generation of rural migrant laborers in China is very different from that of their parents. They move from city to city looking for jobs and do not stay at one job very long. This phenomenon is found not only in the industrial East of China but also in the far West. People are calling them "floating laborers" or even cynically "tourist laborers". Many, if not all of the young rural believers in China go to work in the city once they graduate from junior high school. Once in the city, they are lost both emotionally and spiritually. Neither their parents nor their churches can help them. Let us remember them in our prayers asking God to help them not to drift away from their faith in Him but to continue to trust Him in every decision they make.

Wednesday
Thirty percent of all the migrant workers in China are considered the "new generation". They are young, newly graduated from junior or high school with an average age of about twenty-three years and they do not have any skills to be famers. Unlike their parents who went to the city to work to improve their living, these young migrant workers leave their village homes to go to the city for "fun and to fulfill a dream" but their hearts are not really into working hard and earning money to send home. One can imagine the great exodus of young people from the villages and how it leaves the churches with the very old and very young. Pastors are discouraged because the young people they trained leave for jobs in the city. Let us pray for faith and strength for those who remain to continue to minister to the young people left in their churches.

Thursday
In the past migrant workers from the villages had no desire to stay in the cities but the new generation of laborers want to live there where they find work. However, the reality of their being able to settle in the city is slim. Their wages are meager and the cost of housing is way beyond their means. It is estimated that only one in ten of the "new generation" migrant workers will be able to buy a house and settle down in the city. It is very difficult for Christian villagers to find a spiritual home in the city due to the many differences in life there. We pray that some city churches will open their doors and make migrant believers feel at home in spite of the differences or prejudices they may have. We are all one body in Christ!
Friday
The new generation of migrant workers is really poorly educated, psychologically immature, and lacks many basic social skills. All of their deficits prevent them from getting the better jobs and force them to take on really low-level menial jobs in the cities. Only about thirty percent of them are able to hold down long term jobs in the city. Let us pray for those in the Sunday schools and youth groups in the rural churches in China. Many believers feel they are not blessed by God because they are second class citizens who have little education and no chance of ever owning a house in the city, hence their children will also continue to be disadvantaged. We know God loves them as He does us so we pray for them as brothers and sisters in Christ.
 Saturday
The restriction of getting a residency permit and a lack of social benefits are some other factors that prevent young migrant workers from staying in the cities. These young workers want to stay in the cities but are not able to get stable good-paying jobs because of their lack of education and skills. In contrast with their processors they have high hopes of staying in the cities but lack the drive and perseverance to make it happen. One great tragedy found in the rural churches in China is that many of the young people drift away from their faith. The great revival of twenty years ago is now a distant memory or unknown to the new generation in the church. We know God is able to do great miracles so we pray with faith beseeching our Lord to revive the village churches and rekindle the passion of believers.
Sunday
The older generation has traditionally played a large part in bringing up children in China, and still does. A baby is often farmed out to the grandparents for the first few years of its life, or the grandparents come to live in the family home to look after it. If no grandparents are available, nannies are plentiful and affordable. Christian grandparents are uniquely gifted in having this opportunity to use the Word of God in raising up their grandchildren and making a godly impact on them. We pray that grandparents who are believers will have this kind of influence and the Lord will use them mightily.
Monday
Most of the women in China seem to stop with one child, not only due to the one-child policy but because they believe additional child is nearly impossible to manage. Chinese mothers would claim that looking after the one child takes up all of their time and resources.Raising children is no easy task and is truly a lifetime career. In church, it is always the mothers who have to cook and prepare food for church events or meals. Let us pray for all the mothers who do food preparation for church. May the Lord strengthen and equip them.

現時,新生代農民工中出現的「短工化」、高流動性趨勢逐年明顯。這現象不僅在東部繁榮地區出現,在經濟欠發達的寧夏也同樣存在。有人稱這類頻繁更換工作的農民工為「工漂族」,及「旅遊式打工」。許多農村年輕信徒在初中畢業後,就離家到城市打工。他們雖然在熱鬧的城市裡生活,但情感與靈命卻如同在曠野一般,家人和教會也鞭長莫及、愛莫能助。我們在禱告中紀念他們,求神親自吸引他們,幫助他們每天來到主面前支取力量,活在祂的恩典中,在每一件事上信靠神的帶領。

新生代農民工佔外出農民工約三成,基本上為剛離校的初、高中畢業生,平均年齡為二十三歲左右,普遍缺少從事農業勞動的經歷。新生代農民工與傳統農民工外出打工的目的有明顯差異,他們外出就業動機不再是「改善生活」而是「體驗生活、追求夢想」,幹活、掙錢已不再是唯一的目的。我們可以想像農村青年離家進入城市後,農村教會的斷層是何等嚴重,只剩下老弱婦孺。多少農村教會的傳道人也心灰意冷,因為他們辛苦栽培的年輕人,最終也是會離開。讓我們來為那些忠心留在農村教會,繼續不斷為主培養下一代的工人禱告,求主加添他們信心與力量。

傳統農民工那種近似於候鳥的打工方式和亦工亦農的經歷,往往形成城市過客的心理。新生代農民工卻是不同,他們希望在務工地長期穩定生活,安居樂業;「做城裡人」已成為新生代農民工的憧憬。按照他們當前的收入水平,能最終實現在務工地城市購房定居夢想的比例不會超過一成。農村信徒在城市中能找到一個屬靈的家,也絕非易事,因為兩地信徒之間在各方面都有極大的差異。我們求主感動城市教會,能敞開他們的門,在主裡接納來自農村的信徒,放下歧視或偏見,看見我們在基督裡都是屬於一個身體,都是主的家人。

新生代農民工大多是剛剛踏出中小學校門,心智發展尚未成熟穩定、身份認同尚不清晰的年輕人。教育程度和職業技能水平不足阻礙他們在城市長期穩定就業。估算大約只有三成人能在城市長期發展。讓我們為農村教會的主日學老師及青少年導師禱告,求主賜他們美好的靈性,以生命影響生命。部份農村信徒認為神沒有祝福他們,他們是二等公民,甚至下一代也無法翻身。求主施恩憐憫,幫助他們轉眼仰望耶穌自己,讓他們看見神不偏待人。

受戶籍制度制約、社會保障水平不到位等因素影響,新生代農民工雖然對城市漸漸熟悉,他們生活在城市,心理預期高於父輩,但耐受能力卻低於父輩,難以真正融入城市主流。農村教會在二十多年前曾經歷屬靈大復興,但年輕基督徒信仰的流失。大復興成為只能回味的往事。我們深信行奇事的神今日仍要作工,為此我們不灰心的代禱,願祂再次興旺農村教會,挑旺信徒服侍的熱心。

中國老一輩人在撫養孫輩方面都扮演著很重要的角色。通常很小的孩子會交由祖父母看管,或者讓祖父母住到子女家中來照看孫輩。如果不能得到祖父母的幫助,請保姆也是方便又划算的方法。中國基督徒的祖父母能有特別的機會時間,以神的話語來養育,教導他們的第三代,甚至繼續在小孩子的生命中,有屬靈的影響力。我們求主使用他們,在他們的孫兒女中,教導他們自小敬畏真神。

大部分的家庭只育有一個子女,原因不僅是因為獨生子女政策,而是因為實在是太難照顧,要耗費很多的時間和資源。養育孩子這件事已然成為一項需要耗盡心力的事業。教會衆多聚會活動預備膳食往往是姊妹們,也是獨生子女的母親,他們除了照顧自己的家庭也默默供應了弟兄姊妹的需要,求神再次剛強並激勵這群忠心的姊妹們。

Prayer Request 4/17 - 4/23

Tuesday

Prayer Request 4/10 - 4/16

Tuesday
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to tighten its grasp on the legal profession there. Every new Chinese lawyer must now swear an oath of allegiance to the party. The oath restrains lawyers from representing clients seen to be challenging the party rule: "I volunteer to become a practicing lawyer of the People's Republic of China and promise to faithfully perform the sacred duties of a legal worker under socialism with Chinese characteristics: to be faithful to the motherland and her people; to uphold the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and the socialist system Loyalty to the Communist Party is paramount in China. Many Christians find themselves in the difficult position of reporting on their church to the authorities or suffering the consequences. We know they are believers in Jesus and feel guilty because of their betrayal. May the Lord have mercy on them and may the Holy Spirit always help them to understand that Jesus loves them unconditionally.

Wednesday
With the 250 millions young people going into cities to work as laborers, only 130 million people are left in China's villages; and villages are now "ghost towns" of children (50 million), elderly (40 million) and women (47 million). It is obvious that age of members of rural Chinese churches has increased quite a bit; this is true not only for the believers but also the leaders as well. We must pray with great faith to ask the Lord to provide the badly needed new leaders for churches, to revive and keep the ministries going.

Thursday
Self-producing and self-sufficient have always been the goal of Chinese society, especially in the rural region. But, as the market economy demands agricultural practice to be specialized, government is pushing each village to produce something unique. For many villages, it is very difficult to support a full-time pastor. Often, a pastor must care for several churches. We pray for the spiritual and physical strength, and extra blessing of those who serve as part-time pastor and who also must farm to support family.

Friday
In Wenzhou churches, a pastor is considered very accomplished if he is training other preachers. In Wenzhou, a pastor who can lead revival meetings, retreat or Bible conference is highly respected. Wenzhou churches send out such preachers to other cities and even Europe to train other younger pastors. We lift up all the Wenzhou pastors, especially those who are out training others in our prayers. May the Lord bless them, fill them not merely with talents but the power of the Holy Spirit, protect them from temptations and bear the good and lasting fruits everywhere.

Saturday
Wenzhou has affectionately been called "The Jerusalem of China". Historically the churches there have placed a great emphasis on prayer, discipleship training and theological/Biblical education. In the 1980's and 1990's businessmen from Wenzhou established many churches and the gospel spread wherever they went. In the 21st century churches from Wenzhou have been instrumental in starting many student fellowships in colleges. We want to remember in prayer all the churches and fellowship groups that were started or are supported by these churches in Wenzhou. May the Lord grant them more opportunities to lead students to Christ and raise up more workers who have a passion for ministry in colleges.

Sunday
In the past few years we have been seeing the results of a broader movement of social liberalization in China. In the large cities it is pretty well accepted that couples can live together without being married. Divorce is common and being gay is no longer a big taboo. However, having children out of wedlock is still unusual because the bureaucratic complications of having a child without the correct parentage are horrendous. It is still difficult for most of the churches in China to accept divorced sisters completely and we know that only God can comfort them even though they are new creatures in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:17)

Monday
As a whole the churches in China need to understand that God placed us in this world to be salt and the light that shines over a city, a lamp in this dark world. Churches in China can and should be like the church in Antioch of which the Bible says, "And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed and turned to the Lord." (Acts 11:21) It is our prayer that the churches in China, particularly those in the cities, will come to realize that God has a great purpose for them and that is to be a powerful testimony for Christ that shows the world how God has transformed the lives of the believers.

中國近日下令實行律師宣誓制度,要求律師必須宣誓效忠國家、擁護共產黨及社會主義制度,而不是維護法律公義及尊重訴訟當事人。新的律師宣誓內容:「忠於祖國,忠於人民,擁護中國共產黨的領導,擁護社會主義制度,擁護憲法和法律尊嚴……為中國特色社會主義事業努力奮鬥!」。在中國效忠共產黨是首要的。許多基督徒得向上級報告教會動向,不然會有不好的後果。他們雖也是主耶穌的羊,但活在出賣者的罪疚裡,求主憐憫他們。聖靈時時光照,並知道主的愛是無條件的。

星期三
2.5億農村勞動力進城打工使得中國農村空心化。目前約有1.3億人口留守於農村,其中包括5000萬兒童,4000萬老人和4700萬婦女。很明顯的,農村教會除了信徒老年化,也是教牧人員的老年化。求主為農村教會預備所需要的新一代領袖,我們也相信神已經預備好了,我們就憑信心求主再次復興與引領中國農村教會前面的道路。

星期四
自給自足一直是中國社會的主要特點,農村地區尤為如此。但近些年來隨著中國農業持續的市場化,農業生產變得愈發專業化,政府近來大力推廣「一村一品」 項目。對於許多的農村教會,信徒沒有能力支持一位全職的傳道人。一般而言,農村的傳道人都要兼顧幾個聚會點。我們為所有在農村教會服事的神僕,尤其是一邊耕種,一邊服事教會的傳道人禱告,求主賜下體力及恩賜,不但能把家照顧好,也能餵飽主托負的羊群。

星期五
對溫州教會而言,一位傳道人若能站講台訓練傳道人,就代表他在事奉上已有相當的成就。在溫州最受人歡迎的的傳道人,就是能帶領培靈會、退修會、查經會。教會常年差派傳道人去全國各地作培訓,甚至遠赴歐洲等地作培訓。我們為所有溫州派到各地的傳道人禱告,願主賜他們滿有聖靈的能力,不單只是有口才,更是有聖靈的澆灌,保守,使他們為主所作的善工都有長遠的果效,並且結實纍纍。

星期六
溫州被外界稱為「中國的耶路撒冷」,教會傳統是重禱告、重栽培。所謂的栽培就是專注門徒訓練和強調聖經和神學的教育。上世紀80-90年代,溫州商人在所到之處建立教會。到了21世紀,福音隨著學生群體的流動再度獲得很好的傳播,溫州教會在不少地方建立學生團契,福音被帶到許多大學生當中。 讓我們特別為所有溫州教會所支持帶領的學生事工祈求,願主開啟各樣機會,帶領人們歸主,也培養出更多有共同異象的同工。

星期日
中國社會近年來更廣泛地向自由主義深化發展。在大城市中,人們現在可以接受未婚同居,離婚更加普遍,同性戀也不再是驚天大事。但未婚生子仍舊不被看好,因為需要走的後續程序實在是繁雜得可畏。在中國教會中,離過婚的姐妹仍然不易融入或被完全接納。我們相信只有神能全然接納、安慰她們,因為在主裡,我們都是新造的人,舊事已過,都變成新的了。 (林後 5:17)

星期一
整體而言,中國教會需要迫切地再思「救恩群體」存在的真意:神要信徒成為鹽,成為光,是城,是燈。聖經裡特別描述了安提阿教會信徒的增長情形:「當他們放膽傳講福音,信而歸主的人就很多了。」(徒十一21)我們藉著禱告將中國教會交託在主的手中,特別是今日的城市教會,我們禱告中國教會能在神的命定中奮起,建造真正能產生鮮活生命/生活見證的教會群體,使神心意滿足。

Prayer Request 4/3 - 4/9

Tuesday
While there are an estimated 1.5 million people in China who need organ transplants annually, only 10,000 people receive them according to government statistics. In the past two years a pilot program asking for voluntary organ donations netted only 546 organs. Officials hope that within three to five years they will be able to quit depending on condemned prisoners for the needed organs. Having a loved one with chronic illness is very burdensome emotionally, especially when the family must spend their limited recourses on medical care for that person. Let us pray for believers who have sick relatives, and especially for those who are ill themselves. We commit them into God's hand and pray for His mercy and healing for them.

Wednesday
In the United States, the ratio of those waiting for organ donations as compared with the number of actual donors is five to one and in the United Kingdom it is three to one. In China, however, it is more than one hundred-fifty to one. In the past China was the only country that depended on condemned prisoners as the source for organ transplants with nearly ninety percent of donors being executed prisoners. A big complication there was that prisoners have a high rate of bacterial and fungal infection which influenced the rate of survival.Chinese people are suspicious of giving a donation whether monetary or even volunteering for anything. May the Lord change this tendency in Christians. Believers say they trust God but they have a feeling of distrust about how their offerings are handled and are suspicious of the way their church does it.

Thursday
There is a huge difference between thinking and traditions concerning organ donation in Chinese and Western countries, especially about putting the designation of donor status on one's driver's license. According to the experts, Chinese people are slow to sign up for organ donation on their drivers' license because they consider this designation brings bad luck and is not a smart thing to do.Chinese Christians in general still have a deep suspicion about their church finances and how their offerings are used. We know only God can remove this deep-rooted suspicion and lack of trust in leadership. We pray that the younger generation of believers will have a strong faith in God, in their church leaders, and above all believer that God can use them to change the churches in China.

Friday
A survey shows that in more than sixty-five percent of the households in China parents are still supporting their grown child and that about thirty percent of the young people still basically live off of their parents. In some cities this phenomenon is very prominent. As the size of the family has grown smaller with the one-child policy, even grown children still live at home and this is becoming a social problem. Most parents know it is not healthy to have a grown child still unable to be independent financially or emotionally. Let us pray for believing parents who spoil their children by their unhealthy parenting skills and relationships but do not know how to change them. May the Lord be merciful to these families and the Holy Spirit convict them of what the Scripture teaches about the correct role and function of parenting.

Saturday
As China's economic power and influence grow, her churches seem much more confident and enjoy the grand vision of "The twenty-first century belongs to the churches of China" or "China will become the headquarters of missionaries for the world." We pray that all of these grand visions will be not merely a dream but that the churches of China will join the ranks of those sending missionaries. We pray especially for the churches in Wenzhou, Henan, and Beijing, the three major centers with strong churches. May they also become the future home churches for missionaries.

Sunday
Middle class wealthy Chinese in villages or city will buy children, they see a child bought as an investment, to have someone to care for them when they are old. Older people even borrow money to buy a child to care for themselves. Churches are often involved in caring for elderly whose children are not nearby or neglect them. Church is literally their family. We praise God for all who care for the elderly, may the Lord richly reward them now and before the Judgment Seat.

Monday
Recently, Chinese government has repeatedly cracking down syndicates trafficking little children and arresting more than fifteen thousand criminals. But, how to return these "stolen" children is harder than apprehension because these children do not remember where their original families are from. Let us pray for all the families who lost their loved one this way, may our Father in Heaven comfort them and someone would bring the Gospel of Jesus to them and share with them God's great love.

中國每年約有150萬人需移植器官,但每年僅1萬人能夠接受移植手術,主因是器官缺乏。近兩年啟動的器官捐獻試點工作,僅得到546個捐獻器官,杯水車薪。政府希望在未來3-5年間,器官捐獻體系能迅速建成,改變過去主要靠死囚獲得移植器官的畸形方式。當有家人患長期疾病時,的確是負擔沉重,尤其是經濟緊絀的,要省吃儉用想盡辦法求醫。我們為那些照顧長期病患親人的信徒禱告。懇求主施恩憐憫他們所承受身心靈的壓力,幫助他們來到主跟前,放下重擔享有安息。

美國器官移植的等待者和器官捐獻者之間的比例為5:1,英國為3:1,而我國高達150:1,差異懸殊。中國是目前世界上惟一主要使用死囚器官作為屍體器官來源的國家,其真菌感染率和細菌感染率很高,這也是導致器官移植長期存活率低於世界先進水準的主要原因。現時中國人對捐贈已沒有多大信心,甚至連基督徒也對奉獻教會的金錢如何運用也持相同的懷疑。求主改變中國信徒的觀念,對主有信心,並且學習更多為神的家守望和禱告。

星期四
中國對器官捐獻的認識,在傳統文化和理念上與發達國家相比,有很多差異。在美國,大部分州採用領取駕照登記器官捐獻意願制度,在歐洲一些國家也是這樣。但在中國,不少人覺得領駕照時登記器官捐獻,是晦氣、不吉利的事。有些中國信徒總是質疑教會如何使用金錢,對帶領者持不信任的態度。求神在眾信徒心裡動工,幫助大家彼此同心,不讓仇敵魔鬼有攻擊教會的機會;也求主興起良善忠心的管家,按著神的心意照顧群羊。

星期五
調查顯示,中國有65%以上的家庭存在「老養小」現象,30%左右的青年仍靠父母供養。「啃老」現象在部分城市更突出,成了一個社會問題。城市獨生子女多,家庭規模縮小,家庭觀念改變,「啃老族」與日俱增並迅速擴大,從「家庭現象」演變成「社會問題」。絕大多數的家長知道,孩子長大後需要在經濟和感情上獨立自主,但許多信徒家長對孩子明顯地溺愛, 孩子更不懂得去面對自己當負的責任, 求主幫助他們。 願主憐憫這樣的家庭,因著聖靈的感動,聖經的教導,使家長有正確的養育角色和功能來完成神的托負。

星期六
隨著中國經濟地位和影響力的提升,教會似乎也隨之揚眉吐氣,許多「激蕩人心」的想法不知不覺成為大多數教會的共識,比如:二十一世紀是中國教會的世紀,中國將成為宣教的大本營等。我們為福音出中國不單只是個夢想,而是中國教會也能加入宣教的行列。溫州、河南和北京是目前中國教會的三股重要的力量,我們特別為這三地的教會能為主所使用,成為宣教的重地來禱告。

星期日
「老年人願意花錢,甚至借錢來買一個將來照顧他們的孩子。」主要是中等富裕的農村或城市居民,會購買兒童當成投資,以確保年老時有人可以照顧他們。教會需要幫助沒有子女在身邊或不關心老人的家庭。教會也就成為這些孤單老人的溫暖的家。感謝主!願主恩待那些常常關心老人,看顧困苦人家的信徒們,在主的臺前,必得祂親自的獎賞。

星期一
近來政府大規模打擊孩童販賣,有超過一萬五千人被捕。但後續處理的工作比打擊走私集團更加困難。同一兒童往往被販賣了很多次,有些人根本不記得自己的原生家庭。我們求天父安慰所有失去孩子的家庭,那是何等悲痛的事! 但願有基督徒能將耶穌的福音,神的大愛告訴他們與他們分享。
